John Rawson is the MGU President 2023-24
Late in October 2022 John Rawson (JPR to many) was elected President of the Midland Golf Union for a 2 year period 2023-24.
He will pass on the Honour at the MGU AGM at Chevin Golf Club, next year, on 30th October 2024.
This will end a 54 year involvement in County Golf having obtained his County Colours for Yorkshire in 1969.
He won the Sheffield Amateur Championship in 1971 prior to moving to Derbyshire in 1974.
He was Derbyshire 1st Team Captain in 1981-82, Derbyshire Seniors Champion in 1998.
He was Captain of Chevin Golf Club in 2007 and President of Derbyshire in 2014/15.
He stepped down from DCGL Board in March 2023
Sadly he has not played since 2018 but looking back over his 80 yrs(on 28th June), golf has been good for JPR and his 50 years as a member of Chevin Golf Club in particular.
